Carlos Calderón
I am proudly an American citizen, born in Mexico city. There I obtained my degree in Architecture with a major in Architectural Photography at Universidad Iberoamericana. Searching for work as a photographer while finishing my degree, a talent agent was more impressed by my work presentation than my photographs so he offered to represent me. Dozens of commercials later, I won an audition to host The Dating Game in Spanish in Hollywood, California and left Mexico to move to Los Angeles. That took me to Miami where I have been part of all kinds of productions and conducted hundreds of interviews with everyone from Vice-President Harris and members of congress to CEO’s and entertainment and sport personalities.
I have built a reputation as a host, correspondent and creative producer with vast experience in multimedia, broadcasting and live presentations. For half a decade, I co-hosted Despierta America, Univision’s top rated morning show airing daily for four hours nationwide. I have had the honor of being awarded three national EMMYs, two for my work as a host on Despierta America, and another one, Outstanding Talent, for my work in El Gordo y la Flaca covering one of the several World Cups I have traveled to, also for Univision and where I spent over two decades as reporter, co-host as substitute of Raul “El Gordo” de Molina and as Creative Producer. I hosted my own radio show nationally “El Colmillo” for half a decade and hosted the first live cable show in Spanish, Acceso Maximo with great success.I also presented the first Univision show that aired on facebook among many other milestone productions, working with and directing amazing teams all over the world. Recently I have been guest host for Telemundo’s morning show Hoy Dia with great reviews.
Besides my degree in Architecture, I have studies in acting at UCLA, post production, editing and organizational leadership at NYU, creativity strategies and techniques at Harvard University, creative writing from Stanford and journalism from UC Berkeley. I have a deep connection with both English and Hispanic cultures, enjoy being part of and managing creative teams, working alongside technical teams and sales departments and have a passion for transmiting ideas clearly and with a positive light, credibility and purpose.
I also own a company supporting the Hispanic community in the US by providing the tools to safely build their homes in their native towns in Mexico supporting local economies and protecting their patrimony proudly having helped dozens of families to this day.
